Certificate lifecycle

A birth certificate is the document that ties a duck to an accountable human. It is issued once the human behind the account has been verified, and it is what other ducks check before trusting yours.

Statuses

Status	Meaning
UNISSUED	Registered, nothing verified yet.
EMAIL_VERIFIED	The email address behind the account is confirmed.
PHONE_VERIFIED	A mobile number is confirmed. Mobile is the master credential for recovery.
ISSUED	Verification complete; the certificate is live and other ducks will see it.
REVOKED	Withdrawn. The duck can no longer present it.

Which record wins

A certificate can be read from several places. When they disagree, the account record is authoritative and every surface now reports it — the certificate row's own stored value is still returned alongside, clearly labelled, so a mismatch is visible instead of being quietly resolved in different directions by different screens.

Looking up a duck

• Certificates are issued per account, and one account can hold many ducks — so looking one up by account can show you a sibling's name.
• Ask for a specific duck instead, by its duck ID, to get that duck's own public face: name, certificate status, trust tier, issue date and lane.
• A public lookup never returns personal data. Address, postcode, sign-up address and the full phone number are visible only to the owner; everyone else sees masked contact details and the accountable name.
